HOOKSETT – Who needs a treasure map when you have a library card? The Hooksett Library is your passport to discovery, offering a world of adventures for visitors of all ages and interests.

The library’s popular story times, artwork and crafternoons, book clubs, and even reading with a service dog, will return in the fall to introduce children to the magic of storytelling, social interaction, and creativity.

Young adults can enjoy opportunities for exploration and self-discovery with LEGO and coding clubs, Big Buddy/Little Buddy reading programs, book groups for kids of all ages, a new comic club, and role playing with D&D adventures.

There are also events for all ages, like the annual Wildlife Encounters. Derek from Wildlife Encounters showed off a coatimundi from the continent of South America during his recent visit to the library.

And for adults, adventure awaits with a variety of events, including author and book talks, photography and art clubs, sewing and knitting clubs, book clubs for fiction and nonfiction lovers, and cooking for budding chefs.

Of particular interest for genealogy enthusiasts will be the debut of a new Genealogy Club, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and following thereafter on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

The library continues its partnership with the Hooksett Historical Society and New Hampshire Humanities to bring history buffs educational programs relating to local history. A great example of such an event is one in which Jeff Warner took us on a musical journey through New Hampshire’s past with his presentation, Songs of Old New Hampshire. This event was generously sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities Council and the Hooksett-ites.

The library’s collections continue to be stocked with both print and digital treasures to keep readers engaged. But books are just the beginning. The library is equipped with the latest technologies to consume all of the growing digital collections, like the Libby by OverDrive and cloudLibrary reading apps, and a recent acquisition, the Beanstack tracking app. If local history is of particular interest, the library continues its digitization projects, the results of which can be viewed at hooksettlibrary.contentdm.oclc.org.

In addition to reading adventures, library patrons can borrow from the Library of Things for a test drive or to use something like a metal detector, WiFi hotspot, a Dremel tool, trail cam, yard games, and more!

Many thanks are in order to the Friends of the Hooksett Library, who continue to support the library’s growing collection in the Library of Things.

Through their generosity, they also sponsor events and will also be hosting their annual book and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 16. They’re always happy to welcome new members. Visit discover.hooksett  library.org/friends for more info.

So, whether you’re a lifelong learner, a tech-savvy explorer, or simply looking for a place to unwind, the Hooksett Library has something to offer. Come visit us and discover the adventure that awaits at discover.hooksettlibrary.org.
