Christmas can be a painful time. It may be the first Christmas without a loved one who has recently died. It may be a time where broken relationships are wished to be healed. It may be a time that has always been difficult. Insecurity of employment or economic circumstances, weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation—all of these things can make us feel very alone in the midst of celebration and spending.
Our spirits may sink as the days grow shorter and daylight dims. We may need encouragement to live the days ahead of us. For these reasons, the Congregational Church of Hooksett offers this Blue Christmas service to remind us that God may seem far away, but is always with us. We need time and space to acknowledge our sadness and concern and feel we are not alone.
If this is something that touches your heart, please join us for a service of prayer, remembrance, and reflection.
