Good day, I’m Wayne Goertel. I’ve served on the Hooksett School Board for six years, including the last four as Chairman. Before that, I was a member of the Hooksett Budget Committee. I’ve volunteered with Hooksett Cub Scouts as Treasurer and Chairman, and with the Appalachian Mountain Club as hike leader, trainer, and Chairman.
I’ve lived in Hooksett for nearly 30 years, am married, and have two children in our school system. Our family’s experience here has been excellent—thanks to our thoughtful and talented school staff who support our kids’ growth every day.
As a Board Member, I help govern our district: executing our mission, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and balancing educational needs with the concerns of taxpayers funding $45 million operating budgets and major facilities work.
I’m detail-oriented and data-driven - because I’m a bit of a nerd that way. I ask tough questions, consider multiple perspectives, and bring strong fiscal understanding from my Master’s in Computer Science and decades leading engineering teams in finance and transportation.
As an example of this: I led the push to implement full-day kindergarten in 2022 - a district goal that had gone unrealized for nearly a decade. Recognizing a 15-year decline in student enrollment, I identified an opportunity to repurpose retiring positions to expand from half-day K with minimal added cost. My deep knowledge of our budget, demographics, and prior Budget Committee experience helped craft a proposal that won overwhelming support at the town election.
I’m committed to continuing this approach: responsible stewardship, strong academics, fiscal prudence, and putting students and families first.
I’d be honored to earn your vote for another term on the School Board. Thank you.
